When it comes to Transformers Reactivate, not much is really known in terms of gameplay. There are a few key details that we know for certain. Those being, it's a 1-4 player online action game. The game will feature some kind of online mission elements, similar to Destiny. The main enemy of the game is something called The Legion. They are something that is completely new to the Transformers lore. They have never been in any iteration of Transformers even dating back to the original toys. Not much is really known about the specific gameplay style of the game. We don't know whether it's going to a a third-person shooter, FPS, or a top-down game, we just don't know. On the technical side, we know that the game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and will have a closed beta of sometime this year (2023).
The last mainline Transformers game we got was Transformers Devastation which was released in 2015. Even them, with the game developed by PlatinumGames, the people behind the Bayonetta franchise, the game did not feel like a traditional Transformers game.
The last, more traditional, third-person shooter Transformers game we got was Transformers Fall of Cybertron which released in 2012. The game featured a more traditional single-player experience with a fully fleshed out campaign and two different sides to pick, Autobots or Decepticons. There was also a multiplayer featured and was also traditional to the time it was released. With specific class systems, deathmatch, and objective modes. However, in late 2017, Hasbro entertainment delisted the game from stores so you can no longer purchase it from first-party stores.
When it comes to Transformers Reactivate, the trailer and the little information we know, everything is still subject to either be canceled, pushed back, or change. Could this be the comeback for the franchise in and its roots in gaming, we don't really know. Everything counts on Hasbro and Splash Damage being able to give us some much needed clarification on what this game really looks like.
With the supposed closed beta planned to release this year, me may get some answers.
