You'd be surprised to know that Steam is also home to many classic games from the mid 2000s. With the most notable ones being known for their console counterpart. Steam does offer some of those old games either though direct ports or sometimes remasters.
Heavy Weapon Deluxe
Heavy Weapon was released in 2005 and is most recognized in the classic Xbox Arcade store. The game itself was built with consoles and controllers in mind. The Steam version is available for $4.99 and has everything the original offers with the exception of no online multiplayer. The Steam version is also plagued by a bad control scheme. On the Xbox 360 version, you would move the tank with the left stick while your right stick is for aiming/shotting. On pc however, the mouse is your entire controller and can make for some annoyances while aiming and moving at the same time.
Arx Fatalis
This game was released in 2002 and developed by Arkane Studios. It was released for both the original Xbox and pc systems. The game itself plays fairly similarly to it's Xbox counterpart. The only difference is the porting issues. Without mods there will be plenty of crashing, freezing, stuttering, and overall poor controls. The game was made using the "Arx" engine so it was most likely built for the classic Xbox hardware. The game itself though is a time capsule of that early 2000s RPG feeling.
Sonic Adventure (DX)
The original Sonic Adventure game ran on the Dreamcast and was released in Japan in 1998 and a year later in the West. The Steam version is a port of the Directors Cut of the game (DX) which was released on the GameCube. With the game only being $8, it's certainly a noteworthy Sonic game to add to your collection. However, like most games ported from the Dreamcast, mods are heavily encouraged (almost required) for the game to function properly.
Dig Dug
The classic arcade game Dig Dug was released for the Atari 2600 in 1983 alongside it's brick and mortar arcade machines. The game is available on Steam for only $3.99! The game itself plays (obviously) very similar to the classic joystick controller. With four simple movement commands and the space bar to blow up enemies, it's hard to mess up this Steam port.
