New (FREE) Layers of Fear DLC released today!

Coinciding with Amnesia: The Bunker's free Halloween update, Layers of Fear is getting free story expansion just in time for Halloween. That right, for free. This new expansion will continue with the story of the second game. Only this time, the player is the one who is directing the movie. It's unclear when this DLC will take place within the second game' story. Nevertheless, it looks to follow the same style as the second game.

Theories

This DLC doesn't seem to follow the main protagonist of the second game. Giving no spoilers, you play as an actor for a role. In this DLC however, you seem to play as a director. It's unknown, the connection between this DLC and the second game, will it be a soft sequel?

It's worth noting that something like this has happened with the first game. We got a new introduction of a third-party in the lighthouse with her own story to tell. At the same time, she was directly connected to the Painter. She knew/retold the events of the first Layers of Fear game, this time, provided some outside feedback and comments on particular events in that story. It's not known if she will make a return or some character like her.

Trailer Breakdown

The most notable part of the trailer is the usage of the mannequins. It seems like they will function like the base game, stop-motion movement that will be involved in puzzles and chase sequences.

Another thing to note is the description of the trailer itself. "As the film’s creator, you have the power to shape scenes to your liking." This can mean many things. Are there multiple endings? Are there multiple paths to take with different story segments? The bas game follows a pretty linear story. Obviously, there are more clues that the player can find to learn some background information on characters. However, it seems like this DLC will branch off with different segments and plots. It all depends on how literal that statement is.

Another small detail is, at the end of the trailer, it seems like the new side character introduced in the main game is making a return. It's unclear how influential she is. Are we going to play as her again? She does say in the trailer, "Don't you want to be great?" This could actually be her talking to our character and we might not play as her again. Even so, this could not be that character from the lighthouse and it's someone new. Her voice is a little lower/rougher than before, so that may very well be the case.

Overall

It'll be interesting to see how the team at Bloober keep connecting the dots between the different Layers of Fear games. It's also important to know that this DLC is FREE for anyone who own the base game. I saw that people were confused thinking this was some new Layers of Fear game or a re-sell of a remastered Layers Of Fear 2 (somehow?).
