Megan Fox is Nitara! New Mortal Kombat 1 character reveal

Updated: Sep 16, 2023

Citation: NetherRealm Studios

Yesterday, NetherRealm Studios revealed our first look at one of the last characters playable on the base roster for Mortal Kombat 1. That's right, Nitara is finally back after 21 years with her official debut in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. This time, joining Jean-Claude Van Damme as another celebrity guest is Megan Fox. At first thought, this seems questionable. Thanks to what little dialogue we hear from her in the trailer though, it honestly works.

Megan Fox's role

According to what she says in the trailer, she voiced and had her face motion captured for Nitara. Although, I don't think she did the stunt work for the fighting, Nitara is going to sound and somewhat resemble Megan Fox.

As I've said, this isn't really a concern given what we hear from her in the revel trailer. It appears Megan Fox has the capability to do good voice acting for her role. Of course, we'll have to wait and see more than intro dialogue. So far though, I'm optimistic with how she portrays Nitara throughout the game's story.

Ronda Rousey disaster

If this all seems familiar to you, look no further than Ronda Rousey's role as Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 11. That feedback was doomed from the start as Ronda Rousey is not an actress (let alone a voice actress). She may physically fit the role as a badass female soldier, without good voice acting, it doesn't matter. It's arguably the most important role of a voice actor to immerse the audience and make them believe a character. Ronda Rousey unfortunately didn't accomplish that and it shows with any and all of her dialogue.

Reiko celebrity cast?

Now, the final character that was leaked for the base roster was Reiko. Even though we only saw a leak of his character in a CGI cutscene, it's still speculated he's going to be a playable character. He was last playable in Mortal Kombat Armageddon and was a background character for Mortal Kombat (2011). Since, it's taking so long for NetherRealm to reveal the final character, about 1 week away from release, people have theorized that he's going to get a celebrity cast. Why wait to reveal a character who has never been the face of Mortal Kombat? (not to the like of Skorpion or Sub-Zero).

Also, people thought he would also be reveled with Nitara. Because of that, he may very well have a celebrity cast. About a week away from the full game being playable (early access), we'll know soon enough.
