Cyberpunk 2077 is being overhauled in the new Phantom Liberty/2.0 update

Source: CD Projekt Red

The new Phantom Liberty update for Cyberpunk 2077 is a free update that launches on September 26. Here's everything you need to know about the update.

  • New weapons

  • Redesigned Cyberware

  • Redesigned perks

  • Relic skill tree

  • New vehicles/

  • Revamped police

New Weapons

  1. Order (shotgun)

  2. Grit (handgun)

  3. Warden (smg)

  4. Osprey (sniper rifle)

  5. Hercules (special)

  6. Rasetsu (sniper rifle)

Redesigned Cyberware

The redesigned UI makes it easier and faster to equipped and swap out different cybernetic abilities.

Redesigned Perks

The new perks layout also changes how you assign your perks. Like the Cyberware, the UI is overhauled to help you assign perks with ease.

New perks include:

  • Finisher: Bladerunner

  • Bullet deflect

  • Opportunist

  • Air dash

  • Finisher: Savage Sling

  • Pull

  • Deadeye

Relic Skill Tree

Relics basically act as buffs to your perks. You will be able to unlock and assign different Relics to whatever perk is available to it.

Some examples:

  • Launch capacity override

  • Spatial mapping

  • Limiter removal

New Vehicles/Vehicle Combat

On launch, vehicles were arguably the worst part of the game. Many people compared the handling to GTAV and there was a night and day difference in fluidity and control. Since then though, with patches to the overall gameplay loop, they are further expanding what is possible with vehicles.

Here are some things to expect:

  • Roadblocks

  • Shootouts in chases

  • MaxTac

MaxTac: This is a brand new police system that has a similar function to GTA. The more trouble you cause, the more aggressive and numerous police become. They will send in SWAT Teams to blast your car and roadblocks to cut you off. Traps may be set on your road and they will ultimately try to ram/shoot you as the chase progresses.

Overall

This game is looking to be a massive improvement. If this game had launched in this state, it would have been a night and day difference in public perception. Still, CD Projekt Red haven't shown any signs of giving up now. This update should bring this game back up to the standard of what modern games should be like. Hopefully, they will continue to update it for many years to come. The update officially launches, September 26th.
