A recent job listing published to Bandai Namco's official LinkedIn suggest they are at least starting production on the third game in the Little Nightmares series. According to the official job title, that being a Producer Assistant, it's a full-time internship with a timeframe of 6 months.
Specific to Little Nightmares
The job listing was very specific in the role would directly be involved in the Little Nightmares ip. The specific description of what the job entails seems to be illusive as it works in different areas of the game design process.
Here are some of the roles described in the listing:
Support the creation and maintenance of detailed schedule in collaboration with all teams involved on the project
Participate to creative sessions
Follow up on quality testing, in-game texts translation and submission to first parties, certification, age ratings requirements
Co-ordinate the build process and delivery of versions to QA, Localization, PR and rating agencies
The full application can be read here.
Another important thing to mention is that the listing specifically states the start date as ASAP. So, while not certain, it's safe to assume Bandai Namco is interested in making a sequel to the series.
What does this mean for us gamers?
The big takeaway is that there at least interest in them producing another Little Nightmares game. Especially since the developers who worked on the last two titles were acquired by Embracer Group, the future of the Little Nightmares IP was uncertain (context). Now, assuming a new team comes onto the scene in the development of Little Nightmares 3, there is still a question of the direction the game will take. We have yet to see whether it'll follow the first two games or act as a successor/reboot for the series.
Nonetheless, it's still exciting the series is getting the attention it deserves as the Little Nightmares game are hidden gems.
